America

Well, my year project came to an end, and I'm not sure what to do so I'm just going to keep posting. Here are some fun pictures of our neighborhood fireworks display, quite a bit like last years photo but it's fun to try it again.

Soon

Soon the time will come
Soon the task done
Waiting, Waiting
Contemplating
Tomorrow, Today
Come what may
Come it will
Time standing still
But SOON!

Memorial Day Weekend

Growing up Memorial day weekend was about cutting flowers and decorating the grave stones of our ancestors. Most of my Great Grandparents were buried in Cache Valley Utah. We would cut my grandma's peonies, her lilacs, bridal wreath, lilies of the valley and put them in tin cans wrapped in tin foil. We would start in Hyrum Utah and then to Logan and lastly out to Lewiston, then sometimes back to Hyrum. It seems we keep going back again and again the whole weekend long. It was a fun tradition and a chance to think about those who passed on before us. As I got older often the flowers were bought and sometimes planted. A few years ago we were able to go to Ryan's grandfather and great grandparents graves in New Jersey on Memorial day. It's hard to keep traditions alive when we don't live close family graves. I'm thinking that maybe this year we will go to Arlington Cemetery and honor and remember the solders buried there. I think it is important to remember all those that paved the way for our families and our freedom. Happy Memorial Day! Enjoy the pictures of the peonies. Which one is your favorite?

Flowers

I'm teaching 6 Elementary school ages girls about photography, last week we talked about nature and flowers. As I showed them a sideshow of my photographs they reminded me of how much fun taking pictures of flowers can be. So here are some from my back yard.
